The Laser Treatment Clinic uses a combined approach to stretch mark removal in order to achieve the best results.
The first step involves using microdermabrasion to deeply exfoliate the skin and encourage renewal. A hand-held device is used to direct a flow of pressurised extremely fine medical-grade crystals to the skin. The old skin cells and crystals are simultaneously removed, revealing the new skin beneath.
The laser is used following the microdermabrasion in order to stimulate the growth of new skin cells as well as the production of collagen, which is necessary if the skin is elastic and supple.
The procedure is non-invasive and does not damage the skin’s structure, reducing the risk of scarring. Although it can cause a scratching sensation, this is relatively painless. The skin can scab after the treatment as well as becoming slightly inflamed, but this is temporary and the skin usually heals within a week.
The depth of pressure applied and the number of treatments required will both depend on the age and depth of the stretch marks. Improvement in skin texture and appearance can usually be seen from the first session.
