Unless you are familiar with it, the terminology used to describe skin conditions and laser treatment procedures can be quite tough to get your head around. This is why it is useful to have a few of the definitions of laser treatment terms and phrases to refer to.
The first and second parts of this guide covered a wide range of different terms and phrases used in the field of laser treatment, but there are a few we haven’t yet covered.
• Microdermabrasion. This is a term used to describe the application of rough grains to buff away surface layers of skin. In laser treatment, it is used in a deeper, more advanced form and combined with other treatments to treat aging skin, sun damage, pigmentation and other skin complaints.
• Rosacea. This is a skin disorder which shows itself as a redness or flushing in the cheeks, forehead, chin and nose. It is caused by dilated capillaries, but can be effectively treated using laser treatment.
• Port Wine Stain (PWS). Also known as nevus flammeus, this is an enlarged capillary hemangioma which causes a red-purple mark on the skin, similar to a birthmark. It too can be treated by laser treatment London clinics.
